Villains by Proxy are evil-doers who have no wish to be villains but are forced into it, either by others or by the circumstances of the story.
On many occasions, these villains can be helped by the heroes who wish to free them from evil's grip, although it isn't always that simple. Nevertheless, Villains by Proxy are often sympathetic and never completely heinous.
